Providing Input to Government Agencies and Advisory Councils

PETA’s Science Advancement & Outreach division (SAO) actively participates in providing input to government entities, offering expertise and recommendations to shape research policies and funding priorities. One way the government seeks input is through a request for information (RFI), a formal communication issued by agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to gather input, comments, and suggestions from a wide variety of individuals, organizations, researchers, and other stakeholders to better understand the landscape, potential advancements, and obstacles relevant to the projects it supports. Similarly, advisory councils provide a formal venue for stakeholders to submit guidance and recommendations. The comments submitted by SAO are intended to improve the development of policies, guidelines, and initiatives related to banning the use of animals in experimentation and promoting the implementation of superior, human-relevant, animal-free research and training techniques.
